Wearing white on your wedding day has been a tradition that women have been keeping with for centuries. However, one woman is breaking all the rules by choosing to wear a black gown on her special day.
Gown. Blogger and mom Sophie Cachia decided to go against the grain by having designer Anthony Montesano create a personalized wedding gown for her that was all black and included beaded designs, according to the Daily Mail.
Details. Cahcia’s dress featured what designers call a fishtail bottom, lace sleeves, beaded details, and had a v-neck cut out in the front of her dress. She also wore her hair in a high ponytail to compliment the dress. "I always wear black anyway, I think it suits me and it's such a bold and striking color,” said Cachia, as reported by the Daily Mail.
Bridesmaids. Cachia also decided that she wanted her bridesmaids to wear all black, even accessorizing with bouquets that had no flowers in them. Even her husband decided to go against wearing the traditional tuxedo, and opted for a red blazer and leather pants.
Rules. "We didn't do it for anyone but us, we wanted to wear what we wanted to wear, simple as that. I didn't want anything traditional ... everyone has a wedding, why does everyone have to do everything the same? There's no rule book. I didn't do it for attention, or to be known as the girl who wore a black dress on my wedding day. I just wanted to wear a dress I think is beautiful,” said Cachia to the Daily Mail.
Style. Cachia is a blogger that runs a blog by the name of The Young Mummy, where she shares aspects of her life to her readers. She felt she needed to wear all black because it reflected her own personal style saying “I always wear black anyway."
Statement. Black wedding dresses are starting to pop up more and more often at weddings today. According to a spokesperson for the website WeddingPath.com, “black is a leading trend for the fashion-forward bride who wants to make a bold statement,” as reported by the Daily Mail.
Decoration. Black wedding dresses don’t have to look plain, and can be decorated with lace and gems to make them seem more appropriate for the occasion. "Black dresses embellished with lace and pearls are an attractive choice, but you can also consider black piping or embroidery over the classic white dress,” says the spokesperson.
Engagement. Another couple, Alix and Zach, gained attention after they shared with the public the photos from their gothic tea party engagement. The shoot featured leopard print patterns, skulls, and peacock feathers galore.
