Misinformation. The anti-vaccination movement is extremely dangerous to both humans and animals. People are operating under the misapprehension that vaccinations are responsibly for deadly allergic reactions, illnesses and autism.
The correlation. As the number of pet vaccinations decreases, the amount of instances of rabies has been steadily increasing. This could lead to the re-emergence of diseases that have previously been eradicated.
Hipster areas. According to one Brooklyn veterinarian, the anti-vaccination movement is common in "hipster areas." Some pet owners are hesitant to expose their pets to the chemicals contained in vaccinations.
Dr. Stephanie Liff. Veterinarian Dr. Stephanie Liff reiterated the fact that autism has never been diagnosed in dogs or cats. Dr. Liff further commented, "my clients eat dirt. My clients eat poop."
Legal requirement. In New York, you are legally required to vaccinate your pets for rabies, distemper and hepatitis. Last year, there was an outbreak of a bacterial infections among dogs in the Bronx believed to be linked to unvaccinated animals.
Protect your pets. While it is understandable to want to protect your pets from harmful chemicals, vaccinations are required for a reason. Our dogs and cats rely on us to take care of them.
Vaccinations are hip. Vaccinations are pretty hip. It is much more woke to vaccinate your pet than to let it get sick. So, please, guys, take care of your pets.
