A Georgia woman has been jailed for not noticing that her boyfriend had beaten her 3-year-old little girl, Ella, to death in the backseat of her car while she filled up the gas tank. 26-year-old Kayla Medckie has been sentenced to ten years, four of which she will serve in prison for second degree cruelty to a child.

What happened in the car. As Meidcke pumped gas, Gresham started beating Ella. The car could be seen shaking from the impact on CCTV footage as he hit the little girl.
Meidcke checked on Ella. Meidcke checked on Ella before getting back into the car. Ella died a few hours later.
Why's she crying? Medckie said that she saw that Ella was crying. She asked Gresham why. Gresham said "she's always crying."
House arrest. Medckie was arrested shortly after Ella died. She was immediately placed under house arrest.
Charged. Gresham was arrested and charged with Ella's death. He pleaded guilty to her murder and will serve life in prison.
Inappropriately touching her. The day before Ella was killed, she told her grandparents that Gresham had been touching her inappropriately. It is unclear if Gresham killed little Ella to keep her quiet.
Birth behind bars. Medckie, who is pregnant, will now give birth behind bars. It is unknown who the father of her unborn child is.
